The Interoperability Myth

I had the pleasure of working on with Robin Benjamins, a Bechtel employee and iRING evangelist. He was, and still is, the subject matter expert on the topic of iRING and interoperability.

During the process Robin kept saying “we don’t have an interoperability problem, we have a cost problem”. The industry has been operating for decades and all the while exchanging data and information. The problem is that the effort required to translate and re-enter the information is too expensive, especially when you consider the full life-cycle of a capital project from design-to-operate and maintain.

Anyhow, I convinced Robin to take the time to articulate his point-of-view and we recorded it to share with the iRING community.

View it now- it only 6:22 minutes.
